Introduction
Wriggle Valley Pre-school is a charity that caters for young children in the Yetminster district of West Dorset. We offer children the opportunity to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment, which in turn gives parents the opportunity to work or train. The Pre-school is run by a parent management committee and it is an important part of our local community. The pre-school strives to be responsive to the needs of that community by providing economical, flexible education and care for young children. Whilst links with the local Primary School, which is on the same site, are strong it is appropriate to provide an extended hours facility for Yetminster and surrounds.
The committee will undertake to work with St Andrews Primary School over the next three years. We are working on the extension of the opening hours from 08.30 to 15.00, term time, to 08.30 to 17.30 for 48 weeks of the year in September 2007. This will be for children between the ages of two and a half and eleven years of age. Throughout this period the Pre School will remain a charitable trust. Additional management support has been provided by co-opting three members of staff from St Andrews Primary School (the Headmaster, Deputy Head and Reception Class teacher) onto the committee. |
Background of Wriggle Valley Pre-school
Wriggle Valley Pre-school was established in 1971. We employ 3 staff - one play leader and two play assistants with two volunteers. We are registered with the Charity Commission as an educational charity, and are run by a parent management committee, which is very active. Our most recent Ofsted inspection concluded that we did not need to be re-inspected for two - four years. We are based at Saint Andrew's Primary School which has 170+ pupils. |
